  1. Big Tree is the best place you can go to when you are looking for some peace and quiet. It is surrounded by nature, the rooms have beautiful terraces from which you can observe the butterflies and birds flying all around the trees and the property is completely detached from any big tourist hubs. Still, the airport is only 30-40 minutes away.
Aside from this, the best thing about this hotel are its employees. Everyone is extremely kind, they will provide you with great recommendations for things to do and the kitchen will always try to accommodate individual wishes. For example, I can not eat too spicy and the staff would always prepare a meal for me that was really tasty, not spicy and still authentically Indian.
Overall, I can really recommend going here if you are looking for a calm and relaxed time surrounded by beautiful nature.

  2. Big Tree Cottages, Chidiyatapu, Andaman – A Hidden Gem!

I had the pleasure of staying at Big Tree Cottages for 6 days during my solo trip to Andaman, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. 🌴💙

    Welcoming Hosts 🏡

The hospitality at Big Tree is top-notch! Diya, the lovely host, ensures everything runs smoothly. Bishu Bhai takes care of the delicious food, and Rajendra (whose 10-year-old Bullet caught fire—what a story!) is unforgettable. The team made me feel so at home!

    Food 🍽️

As a vegetarian, I was delighted by the variety of dishes served here. 🌱 One standout was the beetroot patty burger—it’s a must-try! The food is fresh, flavorful, and perfect after a day of exploring or diving.

    Accommodation 🛖

The wooden rooms at Big Tree Resort are charming and spacious, with a lovely old-world vibe. The creaky wooden floors add to the rustic charm. Though I was traveling solo, the room was big enough to fit a family—it’s perfect if you’re looking for comfort and space.

    Transportation 🚲

Located a bit inside Chidiyatapu, the resort is easily accessible via good roads. If you need transportation, Diya can arrange a scooty or share a cab driver’s number. 🛵 Just remember to carry a valid two-wheeler license if you’re renting a scooter.

    Weather 🌦️

Andaman weather is unpredictable, so don’t forget to pack a raincoat or umbrella. Trust me, it’ll come in handy!

    Animal-Friendly Haven 🐾

Animal lovers will adore this place! The resort is home to several sleepy orange cats and a majestic dog named Nara. 🐈🐕 If you’re afraid of dogs, just call out “Nara Nara,” and she’ll come to greet you gently—it’s her way of hosting you too!

    Community Vibes 🌍

The resort’s restaurant is a cozy spot where guests from all walks of life come together to share stories. I loved sitting there, enjoying the company of other travelers, and hearing about their adventures. It’s a fantastic place to relax, unwind, and connect.

    For Divers 🐠

I visited Big Tree Cottages as it is near to Lacadives centre for my open water diving course, and they made everything easy by providing excellent food and comfortable accommodation. It’s the perfect base for diving enthusiasts(Lacadives).

Overall: Big Tree Cottages is more than just a stay—it’s an experience. Whether you’re diving, exploring, or simply looking to chill, this place has it all. I’ll forever cherish the memories I made here. 🌊🌟

Highly recommend it to anyone visiting Chidiyatapu! 🌴

  4. I stayed at BigTree for a period of about 10 days in Chidiya Tapu, and had an absolutely wonderful time throughout! Starting with when i’d reached out to them for inquiry and quotes, Preethi was proactive and supportive every step of the way. The actual location itself was memorable and a treat to stay at. The cottages were cozy and extremely well maintained. The caretakers, Dia and Preethi took utmost care to make my stay as comfortable and memorable as possible. Would recommend BigTree cottages to anyone who wishes to have an amazing time at ChidiyaTapu!

  5. We had a fabulous stay at Big Tree. The room was perfect – lovely balcony, spacious room and beautiful bathroom with thick fluffy towels and working plumbing!! The meals were absolutely delicious and the service impeccable. We enjoyed wandering on the property and down the street birdwatching. It is a fantastic location just a 20 min walk to the Biological Gardens. The Manager, Diya, went out of her way to help us. We highly recommend it as a restful place to stay and a great birdwatching spot!
