There is a great abundance of water in and around the resort. Large and cozy cottages overlooking the water and its Malabar fishing boats, the Arabian sea only a few metres away in the other direction, your own private pool in the backyard, an aqua blue pool in the middle of the property where you can watch your elderly father surprise you with his swimming skills, a fishing pond here, a little pond there, water, water, everywhere, staying in this resort is a thoroughly cleansing and refreshing experience.
PS – You can also find affordable vegetarian restaurants around. Watch out for the mosquitoes when you’re in this region.
This place is a disappointment personified. We are members, and every single time, we leave disappointed by the way they treat us. They’re only friendly when they want to appear accommodating, but when you actually try to use the services they offer, it’s always a hassle. I can’t stand this place and its lack of respect. It’s really not worth the trouble. For example, when it comes to changing for swimming, they direct you to a dirty, foul-smelling toilet. When I asked for a better option, a staff member told me to rent a room just to change—despite being members who are only there for the pool. There are people who have standards, and I will certainly not have my three children change in a filthy toilet.
I am still very angry about their ignorance and lack of knowledge. The rooms are rundown too, and it’s hard to see how this place maintains any credibility. They aggressively marketed the membership to us, yet treat us like this. It’s frustrating to encounter such incompetence and disrespect, especially when we expect a certain standard of service as members. Please do not respond by saying it takes time to address these issues; your empty promises and public relations talk don’t resolve the problems.
Club Mahindra Cherai Beach Resort – An Absolute Disaster for Our Reunion
If I could rate this place ZERO stars, I would. Planning a reunion of 60 members, including many coming from overseas, we booked Club Mahindra Cherai Beach Resort in December 2023, well in advance for our August 2024 event, and paid an advance to secure it. But to our horror, in July, when we went to finalize the arrangements, they suddenly informed us they were canceling our booking. They made no attempt to communicate this earlier, leaving us utterly blindsided and scrambling at the last minute to find another venue suitable for a large gathering.
This reckless cancellation caused enormous mental stress and disappointment. To secure another venue on short notice in peak season cost us significantly more. The resort authorities, in their total lack of professionalism, were not only unhelpful but showed no remorse. They refused to offer any compensation or assistance for the inconvenience and expenses their cancellation caused us. When we attempted to escalate the issue with higher officials and Club Mahindra’s customer care, we received no satisfactory response. It was like talking to a wall – zero accountability, zero empathy.
This resort is, in my view, unreliable, untrustworthy, and utterly irresponsible. If you are planning an important event, do NOT trust Club Mahindra Cherai Beach Resort. They can cancel on you at any time without warning, leaving your plans in absolute shambles. Save yourself the disappointment, frustration, and mental anguish—find a resort that actually respects its guests and their commitments.
I stayed at the 1BR Pool Villa at this beach resort, which offered breathtaking views of the serene backwaters. The villa itself was spacious and beautifully designed, with a private pool that added a touch of luxury. The property is well-maintained and visually stunning, making it the perfect spot for a peaceful getaway. They have the option to fish in the pond at the resort.
The staff were extremely friendly and courteous, always going the extra mile to ensure our stay was comfortable. However, we did encounter a minor inconvenience with one of the air conditioning units, which was faulty and took about an hour to be repaired. Though resolved promptly, it did disrupt our experience slightly.
The food was a highlight—delicious and well-prepared, with excellent service at the restaurant. However, the buffet spread felt limited and lacking variety for the price, which was disappointing. Adding a wider selection of dishes would greatly enhance the dining experience.
One notable downside was the presence of mosquitos, which may enter the rooms if the doors or windows are left open especially around dusk. The mosquito repellent machine provided in the room felt insufficient. We later learned that electric mosquito bats are available upon request, which would have been more effective and appreciated had we known earlier or provided before hand at the room.
Overall, the stay was enjoyable, with stunning views and friendly service, but there are some small improvements that could elevate the experience even further.
The Club Mahindra Cherai beach resort is located between back water lake and Arabian sea beach. The location is awesome and must be visited in between Oct-February. The rooms are very neat and clean. The maintenance of the resort is fine. Can book.
