Hated it! Never coming back again. Our family of 4 including a small child came to the Hotel on 7/8/24 at 8pm. We drove 5 hours to get there and we were all very tired and just wanted to lie down.
Unfortunately, we had photo id for three of us except for my dad and they would not allow the stay. We tried pleading multiple times as we were tired and the little one was very sick.
The hotel receptionist at the time was very rude and would not even try to get us a room.
We had to find a last minute hotel with lesser star rating and safe to say they have been wonderful and the room is amazing for a much cheaper rate!
The receptionist kept saying that all hotels need photo id for each member staying there. My family has travelled to many places in India and New Zealand, and not one hotel has asked us for ID of each member. I understand for the child to confirm the age but my dad was clearly an adult. Our car was also parked outside, its not like we are a bunch of frauds though they made us feel that way.
I still can not believe what happened there.
Whoever was at the reception- SHAME ON YOU!
Hotel is a good place to stay. They have an in-house restaurant which is known as Grand Pavilion. I personally liked the Alleppey Fish Curry.
We just stayed for a week and it was great. The employee are fluent in English, Hindi and Malayalam.
It’s peaceful and staff is very supportive.
We had a smooth experience. The checkin and checkout was fast. The rooms were good value. Service was fine. The chef at one of the breakfasts was excellent- offering us veg alternatives and fresh appams. One lone incident was- at the time of checkout- I requested for a bellhop…..and strangely…they told me no one is available. I hauled down the luggage and the receptionist seemed unaware of what to do. One kind old watchman helped me load the luggage into the car.
The hotel has an old charm to it which I liked. The room was mostly good except for our bathroom, which had mould at many places. The service and staff were excellent. The food from the restaurant and room service was exceptional.
Misleading customers and trying to get them to pay additional cost.
Definitely not expected from the one of the city’s oldest and heritage hotel.
Booked an accommodation for a single occupancy wherein the room can accommodate 2 and on the website the price for the room does not change even if its 1 or 2 occupancy. The front office manager lies on my face saying they charge basis occupancy. When I showed it to him on the site he refuges to acknowledge and continues to argue. Hospitality business is about customer service and repeat customers and having a front office manager who does not understand this is the worst thing that can happen in the hotel business
