I read their bad reviews and still opted for this place assuming we do not trust government accomodations and public sector enterprises run by tax payers money like GMVN then who would.
My overall review remained not good/satisfactory.
The infrastructure is in shambles. A delux room was this pathetic, had seepage, broken walls, plaster coming off, mosquito net on the doors broken. Like there was nothing intact in the room.
Adding to the problem was the attitude of the staff. You would not believe we woke up the reception guy sleeping on a sofa to check in. This was after I called him in advance telling him by what time I would arrive. In the morning when we had a issue with the geyser we could not find anyone on the reception. Every staff member is like a zombie. Either dead or about to die witth no solution to multiple problems but just a response, “yaha ka management he kharab hai, ham kya kare”. The manager was abset and staff told that he would come around 11am. He did not picked up multiple calls made by us. No one visits a hotel/resort to fight battles and ruin their holiday and mood.
This GMVN in the heart of the capital city of Uttarakhand is a shame. Kindly shut it before more national and international tourists/ bloggers/ influencers visit and know about the state of your infrastructure and service. This is an age of social media, whatever corruption and misuse of public money that you had been doing for years would not be tolerated in this age.
Concerned authority please look at your dying property. Future guests, kimdly avoid at all costs.
What can i say. this hotel is my preferred property to lodge when in the city.
Its an old government hotel with deluxe rooms for Rs 1000. Spacious well furnished rooms. what more can you ask for. The decor is from the 90s, But i love the retro vibe. Its just cozy.
The bar and restaurant is reasonably priced. And food quality and quantity is pleasant.
The staff are government employees. The pro is that they will not keep breathing down your neck with superficial smile and artificial hospitality. The con is that sometimes you have to help yourself.
Overall they are helpful and ensure that your stay is pleasant.
Room and room service is quite good…well manarred hotel staff…
This is a Government property. Authority may take care about it. Low maintenance.
Worst service I wish I could give it 0 star the woman at the reception didn’t even know how to behave, she was so rude that I can’t even imagine a such a person is working as a receptionist and the hotel was very very bad the rooms were smelly very small no ventilation and the doors didn’t even have locks my God that was a horrible place we paid the room rent but couldn’t bear the worst hotel I have ever checked in so we didn’t even bother to ask for a refund and left the place, and PLEASE FIRE THAT RECEPTIONIST SHE IS THE WORST PERSON I HAVE EVEN MET IN MY LIFE never ever go there.
