  1. Authenticity is always unique and so is this place. We had an amazing experience during our three day stay with family and fortunately we were also able to see snowfall in the end of March. Vinay Sir, the owner, is a very kind and genuine person, it was an absolute delight meeting him. Manoj bhaiya and Sumit bhaiya, the staff members are so courteous, efficient and very helpful. Would love to come back again.

  2. It was an amazing experience staying at ‘Dharali Heights’ homestay at Dharali village in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand recently . The fond memories of being there and watching picturesque views of nature at its best are etched deep in my mind. The views of trees laden with abundance of red resplendent apples in vicinity gave so much joy. The large expanse of mighty mountains and vibrant houses dotted over them were visible from the balcony of the homestay. I would often get lost staring at it while sipping my hot cup of ginger tea there. A couple of wooden beds with mattresses have been provided in the balcony for guests to sit or lie down. My room too was comfy with a nice cushy bed and a warm quilt alongside a few soft warm blankets. A heater was also provided besides all other basic amenities like tea-kettle etc. The entire homestay reminds of typical hill dwelling made up of wood and stone. The co-founder of homestay KD Vinay told me how he and another co- founder Akhilesh Dimri made some requisite repairs while restoring the basic structure and soul of this 100- year old teo-story house. The staff of the homestay are local young and vivacious boys who were caring and courteous. They enquired time and again if I was comfortable or needed anything. Besides this homestay, I also visited another homestay owned by the same founders in the name of Harsil Homestay. This homestay as the name suggests is situated at Harsil and has a number of tented accommodations situated at a very unique location- surrounded by beautiful mountains and just next to roaring beautiful river. No other accomodation or structures other than Harsil Homestay is there. The sound of river and wind makes one feel at the top of the mountain. Hovering clouds are like icing on the cake. Honoured with President award for its sanitation and upholding its culture, Bagori village is very near. There is a lot to be done in Harsil but as I was to rush so I had to leave after a day.
I had the opportunity to meet Mr Dimri in person in the past and interact with Mr Vinay on phone during my homestay visit. They are two young men pursuing their individual working lives. Alongside they took out time and set up these homestays to give strong message to the state govt that just as they did with Dharali homestay and similarly working on similar abandoned homes, the state govt too can rehabilitate hundreds of abandoned villages of the state by reinstating the traditional homes for homestays and, thus revive the economy of the state and financial health of its people. They are also setting example to motivate the locals settled in cities for reverse migration.

  3. Great place and locality, away from the main road. Quiet in the hills, surrounded by apple trees. Manoj was lovely and so was the kitchen staff. However, surveillance cameras all around, in yr face taking away all the privacy and serenity of the place making you feel that you are always watched from literally 2 feet away. No escape from that.

  4. The home stay is located at a very picturesque location and views are simply stunning. The host, Yashpal was also very warm, cooperative and helpful and made us feel at home. His cooking was authentic and lovely. However amenities need to improve, no WiFi, washroom located outside the home stay which makes it very difficult during nights and cold weather, no running water from taps and limitation in availability of food. The walk to the hotel also involves 600 m of steep climb, so one should be aware before visiting. All in all a good stay.

  5. To stay here was an experience of a lifetime. Went with my family and probably couldn’t have looked for a better place. It was so serene, I was totally at peace. This place is great for everyone be it a whole family couples, friends or even alone.
The facilities provided by the host were amazing and they were so considerate! The infrastructure of the house is so welcoming and feels like home. The food and the view is to die for!
Will visit this place again with my friends and I recommend everyone to experience this atleast once.
