  1. Our stay at Onondaga in Kodaikanal was cozy and delightful. The property is an old bungalow which is beautifully maintained and offers the same stunning views as Coaker’s Walk, which is right next door. The grounds feature a campfire, outdoor seating, and lovely landscaping. The food they served was also quite good.

  2. The stay at Onondaga Kodaikanal was wonderful. It’s a 125-year-old mansion turned homestay with heritage rooms offering great views of the hills and valleys. We stayed in the Coaker’s Walk room, which still retains its old mansion-like appearance and comforts. The entrance and garden were breathtaking and well-maintained. The location was also excellent, just a short walk from Coaker’s Walk.

  3. The property is very good. The location is amazing. The views from here are spectacular. The breakfast is pretty decent too. The staff needs better training though.

  4. It’s a wonderful place to be, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, The homely vibe, but the site seeing the driver they had recommended was really a waste of our time and money, not recommended to anyone his name is Augustin ( he’s a bit old and not in the mood to show us any places we wanted to go)

  5. Onondaga was more than a homestay; it was a whole experience. Everything regarding this place was flawless. From the location and the service to the ambience of the place and the inherent history of the place, even if I wanted to, I couldn’t complain. It was THAT good.

It is located at some of the highest places in Kodaikanal itself, which means the views themselves are going to be uninterrupted and breathtaking at the same time. You are literally in the clouds if you choose the sky-view rooms. We decided to stay in the Sky View rooms, but even the Park View rooms looked great. The stay is very close to the city center, so you could end up walking to all the stores and local shops as and when you please. Me and my dad decided to walk to the city center at like 11 p.m., which was very difficult and unsafe in the other places that I stayed from my previous visits. You are very close to many tourist attractions, like the Coaker’s Walk, which is right beneath the homestay. The lake is around a 5-minute walk away.

Speaking about the stay itself, the house was beautiful. All the furniture in that house is probably older than my parents combined, but it is also well maintained at the same time. The rooms were spacious and had all the expected amenities. The rooms that I decided to stay in had one particular perk that I loved: THE VIEWS. Imagine walking up, opening your curtains, and all you see are clouds. Even the bathroom has these wonderful views (provided you decide to open the window). Trust me when I say this, but I guarantee that nowhere in Kodaikanal can you find views like this right from your place of stay. The staff, namely Bennet, Mohan, and Kannan, were extremely hospitable and took really good care of me and my family for the 5 days we stayed. The food was so delicious to the point that my mother (the self-proclaimed best chef) asked the chef how he made a specific dish. Whenever I am in Kodaikanal, I usually eat out, so I just head out to some of the usually recommended restaurants, but this was the first time I decided to eat every single meal at the stay itself.

Before deciding to stay at Onondaga, I read a review where this person explained this incident where the gardening lady was yelling at them. I had to ask the groundskeeper about what happened in that specific incident. Apparently, that person went ahead and plucked flowers in spite of being told not to. In my 5 days of stay, the gardening lady showed up and minded her own work, and by no means was she aggressive or threatening.

It was really hard to leave Onondaga. If it weren’t for work, I would have loved to stay there for another day or two. It was like a dream that I didn’t want to wake up from.
