Purana Qilla, or the “Old Fort,” is one of the oldest forts in Delhi. While the fort’s architecture is impressive, it lacks the vibrant atmosphere found in other forts around the city. The museum inside is a highlight, showcasing interesting artifacts and providing some insight into the area’s history.
Must visit archeological site if you are into history.
Whole place is wheelchair accessible ♿.
Has paid parking 🅿️ space .
Has toilet facilities for men , women and for disabled people.
Has canteen to buy food or drinks.
I recommend you to buy online ticket, so that you need not wait.
Beautiful lake is present adjacent to it.
Purana Quila in New Delhi has a rich historical significance, but my visit left me with mixed feelings. While the fort’s architecture is impressive, it lacks the vibrant atmosphere found in other forts around the city. The museum inside is a highlight, showcasing interesting artifacts and providing some insight into the area’s history. However, the overall experience felt average, lacking the engaging vibe that typically accompanies such historical sites. If you’re a history enthusiast, it’s worth a visit, but don’t expect the same excitement as other forts in Delhi.
Entry fee rs 50/-
Cloak room near ticket room to keep all your belonging before going to the fort. Cloak room charges are rs 2/- for one person.
I recently visited Purana Qila, and it was a remarkable experience! The fort’s rich history and stunning architecture are truly captivating. Walking through the ancient gates and exploring the massive walls and structures gave me a profound sense of Delhi’s historical significance. The site is well-preserved, with informative plaques and signs that provide context and historical background. The museum within the fort is a must-visit, showcasing a fascinating collection of artifacts and exhibits that further enhance the understanding of the site’s history. The lush gardens and open spaces within the fort are perfect for a leisurely stroll, and the lake adds a serene touch to the overall ambiance. The evening light and sound show is a highlight, offering a dramatic retelling of the fort’s history against the backdrop of its magnificent architecture. The facilities are well-maintained, and the staff are courteous and knowledgeable. It’s an excellent spot for history enthusiasts, families, and anyone looking to spend a few hours immersed in Delhi’s rich past.Overall, Purana Qila is a treasure trove of history and beauty, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Delhi.
