  1. A perfect example of good things gone wrong in Himachal.

This is an otherwise excellent location. Was going to book thru Makemytrip for one night before returning home. Since I was travelling alone – driving on car – thought of visiting before booking. And so thankful that I didn’t book.

This big property – from outside looked like 20 odd rooms – next to a power house – overlooking lovely rice fields with snow covered mountains at the back – had its gates closed – the watchman was clueless. He couldn’t show me the rooms. Not his fault. When the owners chose to invest their millions on bricks and land but not a fraction on training innocent workers.

The chowkidar did offer to wait. Till someone came to show around – but I was unwilling to be at a place which had its rooms locked – for god knows how many days or weeks.

  2. We had quite a mind blowing experience in this beautiful resort nestled in the mountains and trees. The sunsets were very photogenic and the quick changing weather, a beautiful surprise! Get a corner room, to enjoy panoramic views of the valley and see the clouds go past your window. And out comes a rainbow with the slightest drizzle. Wake up to the gentle sounds of a far off stream, the wind whistling through the trees and be greeted by birds you’ve never seen before. The nature around is quiet, undisturbed & truly mesmerising.

The owners are always available for a quick chat and some guidance. There are some activities and adventures but at a little distance. This place is perfect to get away from busy city life and ponder on oneself.

A short walk can take one around the valley to some ecstatic places in the valley.

The resort has a restaurant and if one choses their meals in advance, they set a good table with valley views ready to serve on time. The food is delicious and one can even order some regional meals – rajma, pahadi chicken, etc to introduce those tase buds to some new flavours.

Their ginger tea is fantastic for watching the rains descend on the valley! The chilly weather and hot tea will change your mood!

One can take short hikes around the valley to see undisturbed water ponds and streams. The water is very cold but it’s experiential to take a quick dip in the ice cold waters. We also walked from the nearly Jiya buddhist monastery and would definitely recommend it (Don’t forget sunglasses, cap & water!)

A definite value for money to cut off from daily hustle.

  3. Very bad experience staying at citadel …
    Rooms having insects…
    Food was horrible….
This hotel location is very amazing but the services and food was not as per expectation …
If u want a lesuire trip…. I won’t suggest hotel to be the right choice

  4. Had a great experience.
It is far from the city, so please book if you want to enjoy the nature. Roads were not perfect. The owner was very welcoming and I hope The Citadel gets lots and lots of visitors, due to low footfall the place is not as well maintained. But the stunning views from the balcony and the restaurant says it all.

All in all had an unforgettable experience.
The room service was also upto mark

  5. scenic location of the hotel, homely feeling, friendly staff.
its a remote location in the mountains, very peaceful, one can see the villages, beauty around. Limited options for food due to the location, but the food was very fresh and refreshing with home feeling and local flavors.
