  1. Sal wood resort is at perfect location with valley view and very good staff, always available at any time. Food quality is good with mix of different varieties. Highly recommended for families and small family celebrations like silver jubilee in their Banquet (part of property). Curtains can be more thick to avoid direct sunlight in morning

  2. Property is good. View is awesome. Food is ok. |Dirtiest pool i have even seen and very unhygienic .Service is poor, nobody listens you, no intercom facility and really poor wifi connection.Rooms are very average with the amount they charge. No cleanliness (you have ask for it). They don’t have microwave and also the food options. Owners or caretakers don’t even care about the challenges faced by the customers. Seems running the property for fun only. No activity etc.

    Overall poor experience.

  3. Good things:
    1. Vast Property
    2. This must have been a great property when it opened up
    3. Polite and helpful staff

    Cons:
    1. Approach is a very narrow lane and journey for 4-5 kms is a one lane road. Think a few times before you bring anything but your hatchback. Having said that I could bring my SUV here.
    2. Rooms are not at all maintained. We went as a group, my room didnt have functional AC and window wont close. My friends washroom flush wasnt working (as was the situation with dining room men’s washroom). Another friend’s geyser in the washroom wasnt working.
    3. Pool was filthy dirty.

I believe if the property was better maintained, my stay would have been excellent.

  4. Recently visited The Sal woods with my wife to celebrate my wedding anniversary. Upon arriving at The Sal Woods, located in the serene foothills of Mussoorie-Dehradun, I was immediately captivated by the natural beauty surrounding the resort. The journey up to the resort was an experience in itself, with the road winding through lush forests. This resort seamlessly blended into this pristine environment, making it feel like a hidden gem nestled in the heart of nature.

The welcoming staff greeted me with warmth and a refreshing herbal drink, setting the tone for the relaxing stay ahead. My room, an elegantly designed suite with large windows, offered stunning views of the dense forest. The décor was minimalist yet luxurious, with wooden accents and earthy tones that complemented the natural surroundings.

The next morning began with a sunrise yoga session held in a secluded area of the jungle. The yoga pavilion was surrounded by towering sal trees, with the sounds of birdsong and rustling leaves creating a perfect backdrop for deep relaxation. After yoga, we enjoyed a wholesome breakfast at the resort’s restaurant. The menu featured locally sourced ingredients, and each dish was crafted with care to promote wellness. The flavors were a delightful mix of traditional Uttarakhandi cuisine and contemporary health-conscious recipes.

In the afternoon, I took a guided nature walk through the surrounding forest. The resort’s naturalist shared fascinating insights into the local flora and fauna, and we even spotted some rare bird species. The forest trails were peaceful and provided a perfect opportunity to disconnect from the stresses of everyday life.

Dinner that evening was a special affair. The resort had arranged a private dining experience. The chef Bhatt prepared a gourmet meal that showcased the best of local ingredients. The ambiance was magical, with the sounds of the jungle creating a serene soundtrack to the evening.

On my final morning at The Sal Woods, I took some time to explore the resort’s amenities. I visited the beautifully designed banquet hall, perfect for destination weddings, and the well-equipped conference facilities, ideal for business meetings in a serene setting. It was easy to see why The Sal Woods is a favored location for couples and corporate groups alike.

Before departing, I enjoyed one last yoga session, this time focusing on meditation and breathing techniques. The experience left me with a deep sense of calm and clarity, a perfect way to end my stay.

The resort had provided not just a stay, but an experience that nourished both body and soul. It’s a place I know I’ll return to, whether for another relaxing retreat, a special occasion, or even a business event. The Sal Woods is truly a sanctuary in the hills.

  5. I cannot say in words the whole experience was awesome from counting on the cozy rooms to the lavishing food with the amazing view. The Salwood Retreats is the best place one can be amidst the prodigious beauty of nature itself away from the hustle of the city. The staff there was so friendly and helping in nature. I just love the overall setup of each zone. It was an amazing experience. Looking forward to visit again in future.. 💖
