Tree Of Life Grand Oak Manor, located in a unique forest reserve, offers a serene and peaceful escape. The food and hospitality were excellent. However, the owner and manager seemed very money-minded. As bikers with pillion riders, we faced challenging roads and requested a drop-off at the forest reserve entrance. They quickly demanded Rs 2500 plus taxes, knowing we had no other options. This felt exploitative, given the circumstances. The approach road is unsuitable for any vehicle, and the forest reserve road is equally bad. While the location is beautiful, the accessibility issues and the management’s attitude were significant drawbacks.
It is like a haunted mansion and my experience was not much different. The hotel is basically a British era property in the middle of a forest with a very poor connectivity. The path leading upto the hotel can hardly be called a path, forget about the road. Rooms are very basic, food is average. On the day of my check in, my repeated calls were disconnected by the hotel, and the did not have the courtesy to call back or apologize for the tremendous difficulty we faced reaching there. When I eventually reached there the front gate was closed (there is no reception desk or even a doorbell). Food is very expensive (since you can’t really go anywhere else once you go there). The horrible experience I had is difficult to put into words but what hurts the most is their pathetic attitude. Only go there if you are prepared to pay five star rates for a very average property. It ruined a couple of days in our vacation for sure.
Terrible experience, we booked a one night stay in binsar while en route from nainital to pithoragarh. The road to get to the hotel is horrible and inaccessible for regular cars. When we tried calling the staff, no one picked up, so we had to walk 1km uphill in the rain. Upon finally reaching, banged on the doors for 15 minutes to no avail, until eventually we had to knock on the window of one of the guests’ room to get them to open the door. The rooms themselves are dimly lit and full of bugs. The food is exorbitantly priced, with the only other option being a small cafe down the hill.
A more than 150 years old property at one of the best locations inside the Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary (BLS)… stunning views of hills all around and especially in the morning when you can see the clouds floating in the valley between the hills displaying an mesmerising and amazing sight .. soak in the serenity and create lifelong memories… considering the remoteness and difficult accessibility of the property, please tone down your expectations regarding service standard and facilities.. you will need to leave your own vehicles around 1 km away from where the hotel will pick you up in a 4×4 drive vehicle…
We stayed here for two nights. What a wonderful experience! The rooms are very large and airy. The beds were very comfortable and warm. They provided Gas Heaters in the rooms. Hot water available on taps. The food was homely and sumptuous. The best part is the Location which is in the middle of the sanctuary. The bird life is Amazing. We say at least 25 varieties of the birds.
