Fantastic place nestled amidst the great mountain view!
It is actually home away from home … the service is impeccable and rooms are spacious and airy.
As the sun sets over the mountains the view is to behold.
Honest Homestay…
Probably the best place to stay in Landsdown.
Beautiful property, Helpful staff, Courteous owner Mr Vicky, amazing home cooked food, friendly dogs Chanda & Suraj.
Would suggest to book the stay along with meals as there are not much eataries outside. Anyways you would not like to miss the delicious meals in homestay.
Ullar is a wonderful abode in the heart of the Himalayas and undoubtedly is having one of the envious location close to Lansdowne. The host was fantastic and did take great care of us at every point. The people who were involved in managing the place were equally caring. Special mention goes to Kundan, Hayat and another gentleman and a lady who were taking care of us. The food served were super fresh and had an amazing taste. Undoubtedly for a city dweller, it tickled our taste bud. Don’t forget to try the signature sandwiches prepared by Kundan ji in the breakfast. The food served in a shivering cold weather in December around Christmas when we visited were all piping hot and served with great care. No doubt, we loved it. The stay is well maintained, compact, has a nice decor that bears ample testimony of Mr. Vicky as an architect. However, after staying in multiple homestays as well as some of the nicest hotels in the world I can’t call it a 5 star stay. At best I would give it a 3 Star rating as compared to the price that we finally paid.
Few cons : Although there are elements of internalisation of sustainable practices in the entire facility, what struck us were two plastic glasses provided in the tray in the room which we found in non alignment with the ethos. Second, there is no mirror in the room. For even a short family to get decked up a small mirror is a must, which we clearly found as a limitation. A mirror is there in the toilet but everytime going there and coming back to the room make the room murky and we obviously did not like that. The room size is not so big when compared to the price that we paid but decent and compact. But these limitations appeared inconsequential when we met the host who was really warm and hospitable and was ready to accomodate everything.
Another thing which I found startling is the parking space where it is categorically mentioned on one side ‘ the boss parks here’, which did remind me of the era of chivalry and appeared a bit non-befitting as compared to the wonderful hospitality, calmness and serenity of the place. On the whole it was a fantastic experience. Please consider my candid rating as 4 out of 5. We visited the facility around the Christmas time but thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Finally, the water quality maintained in the premise was superb with minimal TDS and even the bathing water felt like mineral water. Mr. Vicky and team also bid us adieu to us with a personal touch and we loved it. Highly recommended stay in Lansdowne despite the shortcomings that I pointed out, which is always there is any stay in any place. Apology to Vicky ji for a delayed review as I got badly stuck after I returned.
Apologies for the huge delay in sharing this post, but some experiences are too precious not to share, even if they’re a bit tardy. Returning to Ullar homestay last year in October, felt like reuniting with cherished family members.
The moment we stepped inside, we were greeted not only by the warm smiles of the hosts but also by their delightful dogs, Suraj and Chanda, who instantly recognized us from our previous stay. It was heartwarming to see how they remembered and welcomed us back with wagging tails and playful barks.
The bond with our host, Vicky, felt even stronger this time, as if we were picking up right where we left off. Conversations flowed effortlessly, and meals felt like gatherings of long-lost relatives, sharing stories and laughter late into the night. Kundan ji, one of the nicest human being, took utmost care, even helped in repairing our car.
What stood out the most was the sense of belonging we felt during our stay. It’s more than just a place to stay; it’s a community of kindred spirits, both human and canine, that make you feel like part of the family. And the guests who visit Ullar have a different vibe and we all seem to connect so well. The sense of belonging is truly priceless. Whether it’s your first visit or your second, you’ll leave with cherished memories and a longing to return to your home away from home.
So, if you’re looking for a homestay experience that feels like visiting family, look no further. Ullar is a true gem, and we can’t wait to return for a third visit.
Ullaar is one of our most memorable stays ever. Our entire family stayed at this beautiful property for two nights and wished that we could have stayed more. The host Mr Vicky Rawat is a gem. He along with his incredible team made sure that we had a comfortable stay. The rooms are super well kept with all amenities. They offer great views of the Himalayas. The food was homely yet the variety which they serve is amazing. We are definitely going to come back to Ullaar. ❤️
