Had a wonderful experience at this Urban Stay. Me and my group of 3 friends halt at this homestay for 2 nights on our way to Tawang and while coming back. The owner Mr. Pem and his sister was incredibly welcoming, courteous, and went out of their way to ensure our stay was comfortable. The place itself was very clean, which made us feel right at home. On top of that, the price was very reasonable, making it great value for money. I highly recommend this homestay to anyone looking for a cozy, clean, and affordable place with outstanding hospitality!
Amazing place with the sweetest host. Pem and his family are great owners of the place and keep you with utmost care.
The homestay was booked out so they offered us lodging at their new property right next to the Bomdilla monastery.
Great clean rooms and had a sumptuous meal at the homestay. Definitely recommend their chicken and fish thali (pretty sure all their food is as amazing).
Please visit their homestay on your way to Tawang, you won’t be disappointed 🙂
At first i would say the owner Pem Bhaiya is so kind person and friendly along with very helpful. And secondly the rooms are very clean like it has never been used by somone.so clean..Heater also provided by pem Bhaiya. And the most important the food is very tasty 🤤 like ghar ka khana. Bomdila is gorgeous if you stay in this Urban stay.💗
I typically do not leave reviews on Google or other platforms. However, my experience with “Urban Stay” was so incredibly disappointing that I felt compelled to share it. I want others to be aware of the reality behind this place, as it fell far short of my expectations. This review is my attempt to ensure that people are informed before making their own decisions.
I recently stayed at “Urban Stay” in Bomdila, and I must say, the name is extremely misleading. There is absolutely nothing “urban” about this place. From the moment I entered, I was shocked by the poor quality of the rooms – dimly lit, shabby, and downright untidy. It felt more like a rundown lodge than a proper homestay. The lack of professionalism was glaring. There were no proper staff on hand, only one lady who kept repeating “I don’t know, only Bhaiya knows.” However, where is this “Bhaiya”, nobody knows about it. The whole situation feel disorganized and frustrating. There is a serious communication gap between the guests, the lady (as she is the only staff of the entire stay) and the so called “Bhaiya” – Owner, i.e., Guests are telling something to that lady and the lady reports differently to her “Bhaiya” – The Owner, which makes the situation so very messy. The food was another nightmare – completely inedible. Everything was undercooked, bitter, and reeking of turmeric. If you’re looking forward to a meal after a long day of travel, don’t bother. You’ll be left hungry and disappointed.
To top it all off, the owner himself is highly unprofessional and clueless about running a hospitality business. His rude behavior towards guests was shocking, and it’s clear he lacks the basic skills needed to manage a hotel or deal with customers. The next day morning, I was about to leave that place for my next trip, I phoned the owner to present my bills and all that I needed to pay and he started arguing and shouting! Perhaps he was out of his mind that time. 15-20 mins later he arrived and again started shouting and asked me to show him all details where I stayed (hotels, staying, etc.) before coming to that place. I do not know what he meant to be and he doesn’t have that authority to ask any guests. These all indicate his unprofessionalism of what he is doing. If the guests are satisfied with your service/hospitality, they would have paid you more money you deserve and/or desire.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend “Urban Stay” to anyone. It seems like the owner started this place without any understanding of what it means to provide even the most basic level of comfort and service. Save yourself the trouble and find somewhere else to stay in Bomdila.
Clean linen, sparkling clean bathroom with heater facility. Walkable distance to monastery. Polite host
